TRANSFORMIT (Transforming Forest Management for multiple ecosystem services and nature conservation via the Integrative approach) is a HorizonEurope-funded project coordinated by the European Forest Institute (EFI), which brought together 16 institutions from 12 countries. Its primary goal is to demonstrate and improve the effectiveness of Integrative Forest Management (IFM). By integrating existing practical and scientific knowledge, TRANSFORMIT aims to combine productive forestry and biodiversity conservation and to stipulate collaboration and mutual learning amongst science, policy, and practice in Europe and internationally.

Sister Project: SUPERB

With 36 partners in 16 countries, led by the European Forest Institute and co-coordinated by Wageningen Environmental Research, SUPERB (Systemic solutions for upscaling of urgent ecosystem restoration for forest-related biodiversity and ecosystem services) is restoring thousands of hectares of forest landscape across Europe. To implement this, we link practical and scientific knowledge to be synergistically transformed into action and create an enabling environment for future-oriented forest restoration, including required adaptation measures (=prestoration) at different scales.

As a €20 million project funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the EU Green Deal we aim at creating transformative change towards large-scale restoration together with a large and powerful multi-stakeholder network.

Sister project: RESONATE

Sister Projects

09-04-2024

Although stakeholders concerned with forests are aware of the threats caused by climate change, they often lack proper advice and related tools to increase the resilience of our forests and related value chains. That gap of knowledge is exactly what we are tackling with RESONATE (Resilient forest value chains – enhancing resilience through natural and socio-economic responses), a Horizon2020 project funded by the European Commission with 20 partner institutions from 12 different European countries. Coordinated by the European Forest Institute, the project started in April 2021 and is running for four years. Focusing on the resilience of the European forest sector, we aim at providing best practice examples and tailor-made solutions to all stakeholders including forest owners and managers, policy makers and the wood-based industry.
